SYMPHONIC BAND AUDITION PAGE
Welcome to the Symphonic Band audition page for the 2021-2022 School Year. Below you will find the music for the audition, scoring rubric, and audio recordings.
INSTRUCTIONS- Auditions for Current High School Students will start Tuesday May 17 (and beyond). Auditions for Middle School students will start Wednesday May 19 (and beyond), when I come and visit your middle school class.
1-Click on the link for the music and find your respective instrument (all parts are on the same PDF file). Practice your part and get it prepared.
2-Click and listen to the recordings for reference, there will be one of the actual piece, and one of the piece being counted.
3-Click on the rubric and carefully look at how your recording will be evaluated.
4-Play as many scales as you know, as many octaves as you know in 5 minutes or less (with or without a scale sheet)
5-Play for Mr. Luce when he asks you to play (high school), or comes and visits you at school (middle school).
AUDITIONING FOR SYMPHONIC BAND IS NOT A REQUIREMENT TO BE IN THE LGHS BAND. We have two main concert performing ensembles. Symphonic Band (requires an audition), and Concert Band (no audition requirement, just prior knowledge of how to play a standard band instrument).
JAZZ BAND- Same music and requirements as the Symphonic Band music, Just make sure that you indicate you wish for your audition to be considered for jazz band. If your jazz instrument is different than your concert instrument, Mr. Luce must hear you on that instrument (example, concert instrument is flute, but jazz instrument is saxophone, need to hear you play on saxophone).
