LGHS BAND RECEIVES STRAIGHT SUPERIORS AT FBA MARCHING MPA
After a season full of weather delays, hurricanes, heat etc.... The LGHS Band performed at the Florida Bandmasters Association Marching Band Music Performance Assessment (MPA). This event took place on Saturday, November 9, 2024 with the Tribe members having their best show run through of the year. This performance earned them a Straight Superior rating from all five FBA Judges. Congratulations TRIBE!!!!!

COLOR GUARD PERFORMS WELL AT FFCC DAYTONA CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW MARCH 28, 2024 (posted 4-17-24)
Congratulations to the Tribe Color Guard for on their Winter Guard Season and Final Show at FFCC Championships in Daytona. The team had their best performance of the year and the final score was over a 23.8 point increase from their first show at FFCC Premiere. Congratulations to The Tribe Color Guard.

Friday, March 1, Both the Concert Band and Symphonic Band performed at the FBA District Concert Music Performance Assessment. For both groups, this was their best performance of this MPA music. Concert Band earned an overall Excellent Rating and Symphonic Band earned a Straight Superior Rating. Congratulations to all of our students.

COLOR GUARD HAS A GREAT PERFORMANCE AT FFCC Plant City Show. (posted 2-20-24)
The Tribe Color Guard performed at the FFCC Plant City HS Show on Saturday, February 17th. They had the best run of the season, and increased their FFCC score by 13.06 points from their original FFCC Premiere Show. Their hard work and dedication has shown, and we look forward to the growth they will make in the future.
GREAT WEEKEND AT SOLO AND ENSEMBLE (posted 2-20-24)
The Tribe had a great turn out at the Florida Bandmasters Association District 12 Solo and Ensemble. This event took place at Auburndale High School from February 9th to February 10th. A total of 53 tribe students including winds, percussion, and color guard, participated in a total of 18 events. Of these events, 15 received a superior rating at 3 received an excellent rating. We are so proud of all the hard work these students put into preparing for this event.
Winter Guard Season Officially Started January 20... (posted 2-5-24)
Congratulations to all of the Color Guard students on their first Winter Guard performance of the year. It was the FFCC Premier Show at Strawberry Crest HS in Plant City on January 20, 2024. The Guard had a great run and we look forward to seeing them perform in the future.

Congratulations to Sophomore trombonist D.M. who will represent LGHS in this year’s Florida All-State 9-10 Concert Band In Tampa this January 2024. Making an all-state ensemble is a huge accomplishment as All State auditionees are auditioning for a spot against people in their section from the entire state of Florida. We are so proud of you.

WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE AT FBA MARCHING FESTIVAL ON 10-28-23 (posted 12-1-23)
Congratulations to THE TRIBE Marching Band. On Saturday October 28, the group performed at the annual Florida Bandmasters Association Marching Band Music Performance Assessment. This was their best performance of the season, and it earned them a Straight Superior Rating. This performance was a wonderful conclusion to this years marching season filled with hotter than normal band camp and evening rehearsals, a hurricane break, and several long bus rides. Great Job TRIBE.

Friday, October 6th, The Tribe hosted over 70 8th graders from Lake Gibson Middle School, Sleepy Hill Middle School, and Lawton Chiles Academy. All of the high school and 8th grade students performed together for Pre-Game, as well as in the stands. Thank you so much for all the 8th graders for joining The Tribe. We look forward to you all joining us next year.

We had a first this year. Rather than doing a "March Around" in the afternoon during 7th period, Percussion, Colorguard, and Cheer Leaders had a "Morning March In". Got students pumped up for the game in Georgia. It was really early that morning, but a lot of fun.

Lake Gibson Band has had many students graduate that have gone on to serve in the Marine Corps, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Coast Guard. We thank all of those Veterans and current Service Members for their Service and Dedication to Defending the United States of America.
Recently, In May of 2023, Jayden Roll, Class of 2020 Band Percussionist came by to visit during some of his time off. Airman Roll, who is serving as an F-16 Crew Chief, told us about his life in the military, how the military has changed his life, and how being in band, and working as part of a group prepared him for the Air Force.
Thank you Airman Roll, and all of the Other LGHS Band Alumni who have Served, or are currently Serving in the Armed Forces. We appreciate your commitment to our county.

CONTRATULATIONS ON SYMPHONIC BAND RETURNING AGAIN TO FBA STATE MPA (posted 5-2-23)
Congratulations to the LGHS Symphonic Band. They returned and performed at the FBA State Concert MPA for the second time since the 2018-2019 school year (pre-covid). They improved their music through the time since District MPA and improved their overall performance since then as well. We are so happy for performing again at this event and look forward to state for in years to come.

On Friday, April 14, 2023, Three LGHS Tribe Members Participated in the USF Herd Of Thunder Marching Band Spring Football Game. Seniors I.A., B.O., and P. W. were able to sit amongst the College Band members and play at the spring game to see what an actual College Football Game is like. Congratulations to those three seniors.

Students worked extremely hard on their events and had many great performances earning them Superior ratings for The Tribe Color Guard, Jazz Band, Four Different Ensembles, Five different solos, and earned Excellent ratings in Three ensembles. We are so happy for all the Band Students that participated in this event.

Friday, August 19th, marked the first game of the 2022-2023 school year. The Tribe was there in Full Force to help entertain the crowd and support the football team. While the game was cut short due to weather, we are still proud of all the students, athletes. and spectators that camp to LGHS that night.

After 18 years of usage, we are finally saying goodbye to our White Jacket/Garnet Pant uniform. Starting this Fall 2022, we will be wearing our new design to showcase The Tribe. We are super Excited. Uniforms have been delivered, and getting ready for sizing. Some advantages that the new uniforms have are a single front zipper, no buttons or flaps, lighter weight, and snap adjustable pants and sleeves which will eliminate having to hem, saving a lot of prep time. We are so excited.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR ALL COUNTY BAND STUDENTS (pasted 4-11-22)
Congratulations to the All County Band Students. This Past Saturday, April 9th, the Polk All County Band had an indoor performance for the first time since the 2018-2019 School Year. Our students, plus members from other schools had three rehearsal, 2.5 hours each, to prepare all of their music. This totaled 7.5 hours all together to prepare for a concert. All the students performed well and we are so proud of them being involved in this event.
TRIBE COLOR GUARD PLACED 9TH IN SCHOLASTIC AAA AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to the LGHS Tribe Color Guard. The Had their best run of the season at the FFCC Championships in Daytona on Friday March 25, 2022. With all of their growth and efforts, they placed 9th overall in the Scholastic AAA Coast One Division for the entire state. This is the first time that The Tribe Color Guard has competed in this Division/Skill Set since the 2019 school year and we are so proud of their Top Ten Finish.
TRIBE COLOR GUARD HAS STRONG PERFORMANCE AT FFCC SHOW AT UNIVERSITY HS 3-12-22 (posted 3-16-22)
Congratulations to the LGHS Tribe Color Guard. They continued their journey in the FFCC competition circuit at University High School in Orlando. With the feedback from previous event’s judges tapes, they improved their show and had their best performance of the season. This performance increased their score by almost 8 points over last week’s show and earned them a 4th place finish overall. We are so proud of them and all of the hard work they have put into the show and how they have grown as performers. We look forward to their final winter guard performance this year at the 2022 FFCC Championships in Daytona on Friday, March 25th.

Congratulations goes out to two of the Tribe’s Band Staff Members. Mrs. Baranowski and the Lake Gibson Middle School Symphonic Band and Ms. Lutz and the Sleepy Hill Middle School Symphonic Band performed this past weekend at the FBA Middle School Concert MPA. Both Schools earned a Superior rating at this event. This was continuation for superior ratings for LGMS. Then with this being Ms. Lutz’s First year teaching at SHMS, she was able to have her students earn a superior rating at SHMS for the first time since the 2011-2012 school year. We are so proud of our Tribe Staff Members and their students.
TRIBE COLOR GUARD HAS STRONG PERFORMANCE AT FFCC SHOW AT APOPKA HS 3-5-22 (posted 3-7-22)
Congratulations to the LGHS Color Guard. They performed this past weekend at the FFCC Apopka High School Show. They scored 10th overall, but scored 5th in the category of equipment and 6th in the category of Movement. Their overall score raised around 4 points over the previous week’s show. We are so proud of their improvement.

Congratulations to the LGHS Concert and Symphonic Band. They had their first FBA High School Concert MPA Concert for the first time in two years. The event took place at Kathleen High School on Friday March 4th and both groups had their best performances of the year on their MPA Music. The groups took the input from the previous weeks Pre-MPA and improved. Concert Band earned a straight Excellent rating and Symphonic band earned an overall Superior rating. We are so proud of the progress our students have made.

FRIST PRE-FESTIVAL CONCERT IN 2 YEARS!!! (Posted 2-28-22)
Congratulations to the LGMS Symphonic Band, LGHS Concert and Symphonic Band. They had their first Pre-MPA Concert for the first time in two years in the LGHS Auditorium. This was a great opportunity for our students to get a feel for what the actual environment will be like when they take the stage at their respective MPAs, and to get valuable feedback from the mock judges.

This past weekend The Color Guard performed at the FFCC Plant City HS Show. They had represented themselves well with an improved performance from the previous week with new added choreography. Congratulations to the LGHS Band program. This past weekend, from Thursday February 10- Saturday February 12 was the FBA Solo and Ensemble MPA. The students all represented themselves very well and did an amazing job on their performances. Groups receiving a superior rating were Jazz Band, Color Guard, Flute Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, as well as 3 percussion solos. Groups receiving an excellent rating were Brass Quintet and Percussion Trio. We are so proud of the hard work all of the students put into their performances. Congratulations.
THE TRIBE RECIEVES AWARD FOR CHRISTMAS PARADE. (posted 1-3-22)
After a year off, the Lakeland Christmas Parade returned for December 2021. Every year, awards are given out by a panel of judges set up watching the parade. This year, The LGHS Band program received the award for Outstanding Band/Marching Unit. Congratulations TRIBE.
FIRST LIVE CONCERT IN TWO YEARS!!!!!!!! (posted 1-3-22)
Congratulations to The Tribe for having its first live performance as a whole in two years. Especially proud of all of the students on this concert as they prepared this music in essentially 4 weeks, while also preparing for the Lakeland Christmas Parade and Going to Play-Off Games during the preparation process. It was so nice being able to share music in our auditorium to a live audience again.

It was so nice having been able to "get back to normal" and have marching practices, sit in the stands, go to away games, have full band participation at every game again. We are so proud of all of our students for putting in their hard work to make Fall 2021 a success.
CONGRATULATIONS TRIBE at FBA 2021!!!!
Congratulations to The Tribe. They had their best performance of the year on November 6, 2021, at the FBA Marching MPA and earned the rating of Superior in all categories. It was a great moment for the Tribe having returned to this event for the first time since 2019. We are so proud of all the work that the students put into their performance to make this performance happen.
